We live and work in balance under the sky of the high meseta.

In 1999 the Spanish-German winemaker team and three friends: Margarita Madrigal, Alexandra Schmedes and Gonzalo Rodriguez started Más Que Vinos.

Our philosophy is based on working sustainably and farming organically, respecting regional traditions and combining these with our innovative spirit.

Our vineyards are located on the Meseta de Ocaña (Toledo), at 750 meters altitude which is characterized by an extreme continental climate. The majority of our vineyards are old bush vines which we farm organically, manually and dry.

We practice sustainable viticulture and our winemaking is based on the indigenous varieties of our region: Airén, Garnacha and Cencibel, our local Tempranillo clone. We have also recovered varieties that were almost lost such as Malvar. This contributes to ensuring the future of the viticultural biodiversity of our region.

Our winery

Our modern winery is located in Cabañas de Yepes, in the province of Toledo. Surrounded by vineyards, under the immense sky of the Meseta de Ocaña, we strive to create wines in harmony with our surroundings.

The historic family winery La Plazuela (the small square), with the traditional clay amphorae called tinajas, dates back to 1851 and is located in Dosbarrios, our neighboring village and Gonzalos family home town. It is here where we age our flagship wine La Plazuela.

We embrace local traditions of our area and combining these with our winemaking experience make our wines based on the autochthonous varieties: Cencibel (Tempranillo), Garnacha, Malvar and Airén.

At Bodegas Más Que Vinos we produce three wine ranges: Ercavio the wines that mark the beginning of the winery; the Premium Editions wines of small production mostly single vineyards, each with its own unique story; Los Conejos Malditos wines made with the grapes from the vineyards that suffer most from the rabbit attacks.
